Epitaph of Seikilos (1st C. AD)

Version 1.
The Aulos plays with a drone note on one pipe, while the other pipe plays the melody.  It repeats the entire song with Kithara and voice.  It sounds so foreign to the modern listener (to me).  It really brings to life the ancient times from which it was written.  I have decided Musicology would be a worthwhile pursuit if to only find one piece like this.
Version 2.
Kithara used for this rendition of the song.   The performer is playing with great rubato.  Meaninful pauses clearly show the end of each phrase.  Voice joins in for one round through the entire song and now we are back to solo Kithara.  The performance is heterophonic, but the Kithara adds a couple of homophonic intervals that hint at tertian harmony.
