Kyrie Eleison (Ambrosian Chant)

This is Ambrosian chant, but somewhat uniquely done by a women's choir and female soloist.  The soloist begins then the chorus joins her, repeating her motif exactly.  As is usual, the only words are Kyrie Eleison sung in a very melismatic style.  The words are sung a total of 6 times by the soloist and six times by the chorus.  The first three sets (a set being one motif by the soloist followed by one motif by the chorus) are done on lower pitches.  The last three sets are sung on higher pitches.  I believe this is a slightly abnormal pattern from other versions of the Kyrie Eleison from this time period, because it omits the phrase "Christe Eleison" that is usually sandwiched between the two Kyrie Eleison phrases.  It's simple, yet beautiful.
